Data sources

P index:

To construct the P index, the poverty rate from the World bank has been used. The consecutive dry days have been retrieved from the Climate Data Store.

LE index:

To construct the LE index, the base mortality rate is based on data from the UN abridged life tables. The excess mortality has been retrieved from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 (GBD 2019) Results. Lastly the extreme heat days have been retrieved from the Climate Data Store

E index:

To construct the E index, the unemployment from the International Labour Organisation has been used. The number of people working in agriculture, forestry, fishery, and construction has been retrieved from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. The hours lost due to heat are taken from Parsons et al. 2021.

S index:

To construct the S index, the projected cooling and heating degree days from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Interactive Atlas were used. The population projections and gross domestic product have been retrieved from the International Institute for Applied Sciences Analysis.

We acknowledge the ETCCDI indices for CMIP6 provided through the Copernicus Climate Data Store, documented in Sillmann et al. (2013) and Kim et al. (2020).
We are grateful to L. Parsons, D. Shindell, M. Tigchelaar, Y. Zhang, and J. Spector for their publicly available data on annual hours lost due to heat presented in Parsons et al. (2021)
